PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Entrepreneurship is dynamic. You may feel tempted to fast forward the strategic planning process or skip it altogether. Successful entrepreneurship, however, demands strategic planning precisely because your work is constantly evolving. We offer a solution that simplifies the planning process with an easy-to-update platform so it’s agile with your work.
The Entrepreneurial Growth Sprint is a leadership development program designed to help entrepreneurs innovate everyday and accelerate community impact. The program is a virtual, in-person, or hybrid cohort experience held over over 3 weeks. Participants will be equipped to build creative solutions with limited resources in an era of disruption.
Entrepreneurial leaders come away with human-centered innovation tools to build people and place-focused strategies, solve complex challenges, and ignite vibrancy in the broader community. Our tools include an asset map, strategy canvas, action plan, elevator pitch, and other resources that simplify the often overwhelming journey towards launch.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
Develop an understanding of design thinking
Apply human-centered methodologies to better understand your customers
Build innovation leadership skills to meet disruptive challenges head-on
Learn how to create an asset map, empathy map, and a prototype solution
Earn a digital badge for each entrepreneur
THE PROGRAM IN ACTION
The Prairie View A&M University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides free business consulting and affordable training seminars for small and medium-sized business owners and managers. The PVAMU SBDC is a business consulting and training center of the SBDC Network.
Jasmin Espy’s work at the SBDC is more important than ever. Small and minority owned businesses have been hit hard during the pandemic. Many did not have the same resources as other small or larger businesses to pivot to remote work or digital access. With other economic shifts like rising inflation at play, it’s imperative to bring entrepreneurs together so they can learn from one another as an entrepreneurial community.
The Entrepreneurial Growth Sprint does exactly that—it helps the cohort utilize the expertise of everyone involved and the toolkit provided to build an effective growth strategy. The participants of the recent PCAMU SBDC cohort concluded their experience with a combined total of 40 brand new implementation plans. Many of the participants owned nascent businesses and used the strategy canvas to ideate entirely new products and services. The program not only equipped the participants with a set of innovation tools, but a set of lifelong leadership skills in research, critical thinking, ideation, prototyping, and implementation.
